Praise for the
Milkweed Triptych
"A major talent... I can't wait to see more."
—George R. R. Martin
"Mad English warlocks battling twisted Nazi psychics? Yes please, thank you. Tregillis's debut has a white-knuckle plot, beautiful descriptions, and complex characters-- an unstoppable Vickers of a novel."
Cory Doctorow on Bitter Seeds
"Ian Tregillis triumphantly concludes his astonishing, brilliant, pulse-pounding debut trilogy, The Milkweed Triptych."
Cory Doctorow on Necessary Evil
"Tregillis' conclusion of the Milkweed Triptych is the pièce de résistance of the series. Necessary Evil is a perfect marriage of science fiction, fantasy and alternate history."
RT Book Reviews (4.5 stars, Top Pick) on Necessary Evil
"Darkly fascinating…A thoroughly fascinating conclusion to an imaginative tour de force."
Kirkus on Necessary Evil
"A cross between the devious, character-driven spy fiction of early John le Carré and the mad science fantasy of the X-Men... Despite the jaw-dropping backdrop and oblique plotting, the narrative is driven by character and personal circumstance...
Grim indeed, yet eloquent and utterly compelling."
—Kirkus on The Coldest War
"The characters come alive via [Tregillis's] imaginative dialogue and his storyline will keep readers spellbound and on the edge of their seats with an intense sci-fi/alternate history thriller plot."
RT Book Reviews (4.5 stars, Top Pick) on The Coldest War
"Well-drawn characters and a feel for time and place make this an excellent journey into an alternate Britain."
—Library Journal on Bitter Seeds
"Engrossing... Tregillis ably mixes cold war paranoia with his mythology."

Tor is Giving Away 5 Copies of The Coldest War
Monday, April 30 2012, 10:07 AM

This just in: over at Goodreads, the good people at Tor are giving away 5 copies of my forthcoming novel, The Coldest War. The offer runs from today, April 30, through June 8.

So that's two Milkweed-related giveaways currently underway at Goodreads—I'm also giving away 3 copies of the new-as-of-last-week mass market paperback of Bitter Seeds (details here).  That giveaway runs until May 13.

And I think that's quite enough self promotion for one day.  Don't you?  This is the part of writing that I enjoy the very least.

On an entirely different note, here's one of the very few jokes I can actually remember.

Q:  What's a test tube baby's worst nightmare?

A:  A dingo with a straw.

As a great man once said: great googly-moogly!

Golly. I would not have known about that if you hadn't told me, Steve. Thank you very much! And gosh, what a nice surprise first thing in the morning. How cool.

My editor forwarded a very nice Kirkus review of The Coldest War yesterday. I'm quite happy about that.

I can't take part in the COLDEST WAR giveaway because I live in Germany and not in the States.

That makes me neither sad nor angry because I will buy a copy anyway.
I was happy when I received my mmbp copy of BIITER SEEDS before my holiday from 29th April to 13th May 2012. I read BITTER SEEDS during these days and I was really impressed. That has been one of the best books I read so far in 2012. Now I work on the review which I will post within the next days on my blog Edi's Book Lighthouse and on GOODREADS.
I do not buy hardcover due to limited space at hom. Therefore I ordered a digital copy of the COLDEST WAR in advance.

Fingers crossed that the publishing of COLDEST WAR and NECESSARY EVIL will happen as you expect.

I'm sorry the giveaway didn't extend outside the U.S. Thanks for being so understanding!

I'm glad the mmpb of Bitter Seeds got to you in time for your vacation -- and that you enjoyed it. Thank you very much for the kind and encouraging words -- I really appreciate the feedback. Here's hoping you enjoy the sequel, too!
