At Worldcon this past August (yes, that's right, I just came back from World Fantasy and now I'm talking about Worldcon) I had the opportunity to meet and hang out with several authors from the Nightshade Books crew.  Brad Beaulieu I've known for years, going all the way back to our days as striplings on the OWW, but in Reno I met Courtney Shafer, Katy Stauber, and Katy's very cool husband, Chet. 

Taken together, that's almost half of the blogging collective known as the Night Bazaar.

So it was a nice surprise when Courtney invited me to contribute a guest post to the Bazaar.  This week the roundtable topic du jour is, "Heroes and Heroines."  My post, Checkerboard Heroes and Motley Protagonists, went up on Sunday.

(Courtney, being a cagey one, cleverly left it to me to figure out that the date for my guest post landed on the Sunday of World Fantasy.  She laughed about that later.  No, really, she laughed about it.  Well played, madam.)

Recapping last week's big news, Wild Cards now has a feature film development deal.  Which is awesome, and we're all thrilled about it!  Anybody who isn't is grossly misinformed.

Nice writeup. Marlowe is a fine choice for heroes.
Although I think you are shorting yourself. From what I recall you have withstood a deluge of water, post-apocalyptic car vandals, explored the ruins of a lost civilization and held a ferocious wombat. I'm pretty sure that's how it all read. Not too shabby.
