In just a couple of weeks, I'll be heading to Tempe for Leprecon 37.
Why not consider a weekend trip to Arizona? If you come to Leprecon, we can hang out! When I'm not on programming.
Speaking of which, my schedule is below the cut.

Friday, May 6
6 -7 pm: Movie Adaptations from Books & TV
The Good, Bad, and Ugly in movie adaptations of SF/F books & TV shows.
Chris Swanson (m), Gini Koch, Ian Tregillis
9 - 10 pm: Collaborating With Your Imaginary Internet Friends
Lots of people are doing collaborative projects with people they've never met in person; they know them only from on-line interaction. How does that work? What are the pros and cons? Funny stories? Cool opportunities that wouldn't have happened otherwise?
Emma Bull (m), Marsheila Rockwell, Ian Tregillis
Saturday, May 7
12:00 - 12:30 pm: Reading
As tempting as it might be, I promise not to eat lunch while I'm reading.
12:30 - 1:30 pm: Autographing
(Please stop by and keep me company. I won't be busy. I guarantee it.)
2:00 - 3:00 pm: Is Earth Unique?
The Rare Earth hypothesis says complex life such as we have on Earth is uncommon. So, who needs habitable planets? When making space colonies is but a few weeks work for tireless robots, will we even both to terraform planets? How would a future of space colonies around nearby red dwarfs differ from planet-based science fiction.
G. David Nordley, Ian Tregillis
7:00 - 8:00 pm: When Is A Genre Not a Genre?
...When it's really Science Fiction. Every other genre can be written into SF: history, romance, mystery, and westerns. What makes SF a unique genre?
Sarah Monette, Rick Novy, Ian Tregillis
8:00 - 9:00 pm: Author Reception
Cash bar. I might need it by then.
9:00 - 10:00 pm: Eye of Argon Reading
This is the challenge: read a page aloud without laughing. Can you do it sober? Or inebriated? Either condition is fine by us. This is an audience participation round-robin reading. Whether you've never heard of TWOA or it's been a while for you, you shouldn't miss this opportunity.

You know, I've been thinking that I might like to check out a con of some sort some day. Even though I adore the name of this one, it probably won't be this (not a good time of year for me work-wise), and it definitely won't be this time since for the first time in weeks I actually have plans this weekend (concert), but someday... Perhaps someday when my 17-year-old nephew is back in Alaska I can dream again. Have fun, though! Even my introverted self thinks it sounds like a good time, so I'm sure it will be.
Conventions can be a great deal of fun. I definitely encourage you to check one out when life gives you the opportunity.
Minneapolis has a couple of conventions, I think, including Minicon, which was just held a couple of weeks ago. I've never been there but it has a great reputation.
